The operator has partnered with Tunley Engineering, a climate reduction specialist, to adopt critical methods for measuring, reporting, and offsetting its carbon impact. The company was the first to join The Climate Pledge in 2019.
Tunley Engineering's carbon assessment for Lottoland at the beginning of the year shed light on the company's yearly carbon equivalent metric tonne emissions.
In light of this year's research, Lottoland has put into motion a plan that will lead the firm to zero net carbon emissions by the year 2040.
Nigel Birrell, Lottoland Group CEO, said: "At Lottoland, we are dedicated to being socially and ecologically responsible not just for our consumers but for our workers too.
"If companies like Lottoland can make strides in carbon reduction, hopefully we'll see more and more enterprises doing the same."
With the help of Tunley, Lottoland has planted 2,799,354 trees as part of the Eden Reforestation Projects and the Usambara Biodiversity Conservation, and the company has also mitigated its carbon footprint by contributing to the conservation of forests.
Lottoland predicted 2019 emissions of 140.19 metric tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent. However, Lottoland has lowered its emissions over the previous three years, and they are only expected to reach 133.12 tCO2e in 2022.
Some examples of these alterations are the installation of occupancy sensors to limit air conditioning use to peak hours of operation, the promotion of carpooling and e-bike commuting, and the use of communication technologies while on business trips.
